The fisher is a unique medium sized mammal, residing from the boreal forest in Canada to the northern United States. They are generally spotted near dead trees in older growth forests. One unique feature is their ability to hunt porcupine, a feat most predators will not attempt. Fishers are more easily spotted during the months in which there is little or no snow cover.

Thanks Ann - yup, it was intense for a few minutes until it realized I wasn't going to hurt or challenge it.
