Grand Teton National Park is a very special place during the winter months. The snowstorms move quickly across the mountain ranges often dropping snow and ice measured by feet, not inches. When the winds whip down the sides of the Grand Teton Eastern Slope, the snow is generally wet and clings to the small, fragile aspen trees. When the temperatures drop, the snow freezes and an icy coat forms making for a shimmering glow when morning arrives. It has been known to snow any time, any season in the Grand Tetons but winter, in my opinion, still creates the greatest beauty of the often overlooked forests at the base of the mountains.
