This image is the result of the "too much lens" syndrome frequently associated with wildlife photographers. This gorgeous wolf stood for nearly two minutes and all I had with me at the time was a 500mm lens, thus, only a head shot was attainable.
The gray wolf or grey wolf (canis lupus) is a species of canid native to the wilderness and remote areas of North America, Eurasia, and North Africa. It is the largest member of its family, with males weighing up to 100 pounds and females weighing up to 85 pounds. Wolves are similar in appearance and proportions to certain breeds of dogs, but has a larger head, narrower chest, longer legs, straighter tail and bigger paws than a german shepard or a sled dog.
