This young orphan and her sister are out early clamming in the receding waters of the Silver Salmon Creek and the Gulf of Alaska during morning tide.
These beautiful coastal brown bears are not always brown and are incredibly adept at clamming for a meal. One of the most frequently asked questions is what is the difference between the coastal brown bears and the grizzly bear. The answer is simple: geographical location and diet. The coastal brown bear, as photographed, is a fisherman, with primary emphasis on grasses during the spring and fish during the summer and early fall when they turn to berries for weight gaining prior to hibernation.
About Sandra Bronstein
Sandra Bronstein finds great pleasure in sharing the beauty of the natural world and its magnificent wildlife as seen through her lenses for over 40 years. Having been intrigued by many different elements, in both the manmade and natural world, she strives to discover new and different ways to capture these elements. Her vision provides a window into the ever changing world and, simply put, Sandra has captured and shares with us a simple moment in time. Sandra was raised and continues to reside in large metropolitan cities but has always had a love of nature and wilderness. It was due, in part, to family travels and being an "outdoor" girl which kept her love strong for wildlife and the environment. That love and respect shows in each...
