The bobcat is a North American mammal of the cat family, Fedlidae, as one can see they strongly resemble house pets. Not such is the case. When fully grown they are roughly twice the size and weight of a house cat. These animals are predatory, eating rabbits, hares, insects, rodents, and even chickens. They appear shy at first but one should be wary as they have been known to attack humans and housepets. This is a most adaptable predator that can inhabit semi-desert environments, swampland, the outskirts of forested areas as well as the edges of urban enviroments. The most defining characteristic is the small black tufts on the top of each ear. The bobcat also has striping, or bars, on its forelegs and a black-tipped tail which is bobbed - hence their name. Even though they have been hunted for their fur and for sport, their population numbers are quite strong.
About Sandra Bronstein
Sandra Bronstein finds great pleasure in sharing the beauty of the natural world and its magnificent wildlife as seen through her lenses for over 40 years. Having been intrigued by many different elements, in both the manmade and natural world, she strives to discover new and different ways to capture these elements. Her vision provides a window into the ever changing world and, simply put, Sandra has captured and shares with us a simple moment in time. Sandra was raised and continues to reside in large metropolitan cities but has always had a love of nature and wilderness. It was due, in part, to family travels and being an "outdoor" girl which kept her love strong for wildlife and the environment. That love and respect shows in each...
