Winter in Yosemite isn't the rarest of happenings but snow can be. For four consecutive days snow and rain fell in the valley and conditions changed minute by minute. Sitting at an altitude of roughly 3900 feet, snow isn't particularly common during the winter months in the lower portion of Yosemite National Park. The iconic El Capitan formation was totally engulfed in snow and ice this morning but brief peeks of sun and rising temperatures managed to free up the steep walls allowing the rock to show through.
