Artist's Description

2013 Sandra Bronstein Photography. All Rights Reserved.

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming is well known for its ferocious wintery weather. This image was captured on a relatively warm January day where the mercury only dipped to -20 degrees. The early morning sun brings little relief to those who brave the Upper Geyser Basin in winter to capture the gorgeous combination of steam from the geyers and the hoarfrost deposited on the trees. When the trees are ice covered they are referred to as ghost trees.
This relatively common occurrence creates a magical land known as Fire and Ice because of the hot volcanic activity below the earth, creating the popular thermal features and the bitterly harsh winters which combine to create the magic. The silence of human voices and the hissing of the geysers only serves to make this an experience that one never forgets.

About Sandra Bronstein

Sandra Bronstein

Sandra Bronstein finds great pleasure in sharing the beauty of the natural world and its magnificent wildlife as seen through her lenses for over 40 years. Having been intrigued by many different elements, in both the manmade and natural world, she strives to discover new and different ways to capture these elements. Her vision provides a window into the ever changing world and, simply put, Sandra has captured and shares with us a simple moment in time. Sandra was raised and continues to reside in large metropolitan cities but has always had a love of nature and wilderness. It was due, in part, to family travels and being an "outdoor" girl which kept her love strong for wildlife and the environment. That love and respect shows in each...
