This iconic pool, or hot spring, was named in1883 by the wife of an assistant park superintendent, who referred to it as Convolutus, the latin name for the morning glory flower as is commonly referred to today. It is one of the most visited thermal features in the park but one of the most abused. Having years of trash tossed carelessly into it caused clogging to the hot water supply altering its once bright blue appearance. Park employees continually clean out this pool in an effort to save this beauty but its color and once razor sharp clarity are seriously diminished. Still, it remains an icon for the world's first national park.

Thanks Jeff - I get irate when I see the beautiful pool ruined by inconsiderate travelers.
