Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming has an extremely harsh winter season with temperatures dipping well below zero and winds which can exceed 60 mph. With all the harsh elements, the combination of geyser basins, steam, the warm Firehole River and sunrise all seem to minimize the harsh winter elements. This image was obtained at Midway Geyser Basin as the sun was attempting to break through the morning clouds and steam. Temperatures hovered well below zero but little wind was present allowing for the partially clear sky. There are few words to describe the beauty of this national park in the winter months. It is something to experience and treasure for a lifetime.
