Ninety-five percent of brown bears in the United States live in Alaska, and Lake Clark supports a healthy and stable population. These two first year cubs entertained while splashing water from the wet grasses in backlit conditions.
Grizzly bears and brown bears are the same species, but grizzly bears are currently considered to be a separate subspecies. While grizzly bears and brown bears are technically the same species, Ursus arctos, the distinction between these two mammals is actually based on where they live and what they eat.
