Winter days in Yellowstone National Park can be quite cloudy and cold with little light to highlight the landscape. On this particular morning, while traveling between Fountain Paint Pots and Biscuit Basin, the clouds offered momentary breaks of light illuminating the frozen grasses and the ice coated trees. Since this area is geothermal in nature , the the warm ground, when touched by the freezing fog, creates an ethereal environment during the bitter winter months.
There are times when a monochrome image better defines the landscape and this was one of those moments.
Sandra Bronstein finds great pleasure in sharing the beauty of the natural world and its magnificent wildlife as seen through her lenses for over 40 years. Having been intrigued by many different elements, in both the manmade and natural world, she strives to discover new and different ways to capture these elements.
