The National Elk Refuge in Jackson, Wyoming, fills with thousands of elk from around the area when the harsh winters return to the area. Many of the cows and calves travel from as far as Yellowstone National Park to winter in the refuge as do the magnificent bull elk many of whom fought for supremacy during the fall rut and now travel side by side It is a wonderful and amazing
sight to see all of the elk move silently into the refuge for the remaining winter months. Horse drawn sleigh rides begin when snow covers the sage and the winter grasses allowing winter visitors a much closer look at these majestic animals.
