The American Badger (taxidea taxus) is considered the North American badger mostly found in the western and central United States, northern Mexico,
certain areas of the southwest area of British Columbia and central Canada. The badger's habitat is usually found by open grassland areas which contain large populations of squirrels, rabbits, groundhogs, mice and the like. They are most likely to dig a den in areas which contain sandy loam soils in order to dig quickly and efficiently for its prey. They have a reputation of being nasty and dangerous. This is not an animal which can be befriended and their large foreclaws can grow to 5cm in length making them a formidable enemy.
