Soft early morning light barely illuminates the towering ponderosa pines in the forests of Yosemite National Park Yosemite is a United States National Park spanning eastern portions of Tuolumne, Mariposa and Madera counties in the central eastern portion of California, United States. The park covers an area of 761,268 acres and reaches across the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain chain.Nearly four million people visit Yosemite each year and most spend their time in the seven square miles of Yosemite Valley. Designated a World Heritage Site in 1984, Yosemite is internationally recognized for its spectacular granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, Giant Sequoia groves, and biological diversity. A fact that amazes me is that 95% of the park is designated wilderness. Yosemite was a favorite spot for Ansel Adams and his photographs of this iconic national park remain sought after by serious art collectors and fans alike. The large glacial valley and its icons, such as Half Dome and El Capitan present Yosemite in the grandest of ways yet, the smaller details of the glacial boulders and trees present yet another look back into millions of years of history.
